"Happy Holidays to every member and Thank you "HAT" for being the Frontrunner in supporting not only mine, but my children and grandchildren's Heritage and Traditional Uses here in Vermont. "

Stephen, thank you and your group for gaining Vermont Sportsmen's access back on Allen point, all landowners (most) who built homes on Allen point had motorized vehicles going by there houses ,the only fair resolution is total motorized vehicle traffic from martin road to the original parking area.

South Hero bike path comm. will do anything to reverse your access, I support your group and efforts. Thanks again Munn Boardman

I suspect that many people reading this bulletin board are not H.A.T. members. I just wanted to share a little time and talk about my recent experience with H.A.T.s "hierarchy". Recently, I posted a thread with regards to a popular "pull-off" alongside rt #12 in Berlin adjacent the Dog River. A new Fire Hydrant had recently been installed at this location with an onerous "No Parking, Fire Dept. Use Only" sign. This "spot" is strategic for the river users there, as it is one of a very few that can provide parking for a few vehicles while providing direct access to the river. Usually, in order to access this river, a trip to a landowners door, with a request to park on their frontage is in order. While this pull-off may seem unimportant to many, it is of great convenience to those who "know" the river. It sees frequent usage during the trout season. Upon discovering the "new" hydrant, I immediately (that evening) shot an e-mail to Vt. A.N.R., the Town of Berlin and to H.A.T. The only response was from H.A.T. I received an e-mail from Karen Kerin the following day with regards to the "problem". Her e-mail was soon followed by another, this one from Steve Boucher. Steve and I have had almost daily "talks" about the issue. He has gotten quite a few people in "high" places involved. He and Karen even made a site visit to video tape the area so that they have all their "ducks in a row" and know the facts. I expect soon that there will be a sign posted there indicating where parking is legal so that no one has to guess if it's of. key. to use the "spot". No problem should be viewed as being too "small". If fisherman have no place to access a particular body of water, new people (and us regulars) to the sport will find it impossible or too much of a hassle to peruse the activity. Fishing activity will decline, license revenues etc. suffer and in the long run everyone loses, from us anglers to Vt. Fish and Wildlife, all the way to the fish themselves! In closing, If you do not belong to H.A.T. please join! They are working hard for all of us, as they are ONE of us! Scott Carlson Moretown

Dear Youth Ministry:

I am writing in response to an article I read in the U.S. Sportsman’s Alliance on target email news. I would like to inform you that the sportsmen of Vermont support your efforts wholeheartedly in assisting physically challenged youths to enjoy the hunting and shooting sports.

I am a director of a state organization called H.A.T.of VT, which stands for Hunters, Anglers and Trappers of Vermont. We are several thousand strong and we are very active in supporting sportsman’s rights throughout the state. We realize the issues and challenges you must face in providing your services, but I can tell you from personal experience that your efforts do not go unrecognized. The results of your efforts will be remembered by the participating youths for, their entire lives. It is extremely unfortunate that the anti-hunting groups spend their time, effort and energy interfering with your mission. I believe that if more pro sportsmen’s groups knew of your plight, you would receive many more letters of support compared to the misguided interference from the anti-hunting groups.

Keep up the good work. We encourage you to stay strong, be healthy and follow your belief and mission.

Respectfully yours,

H.A.T. of Vermont
